Yeah, at that point, I’d just get an Acty or an Every.

Came to post the same. Find the 2.2L, rip it out and drop a SBC in there.
I like the SS too, there’s one in my town that seems to be well looked after. (picture for example, but not the truck from my town)

Glad to hear that there’s still a good one around. Every time I see one or see one in the classifieds it’s beat to shit.

It was something like 72" by 50"...a new Canyon crew cab has a bed that’s 61x57 which is pretty much the same...if you want a real tiny USDM GM pickup bed look at the rare-ish S10 4 door which was like 50x50.

Hey, as long as it’s at least 48" wide, we’re good.

My cousin had an S10 nearly identical to that. It was a 2.2/ 5 speed. His parents bought it for him new right out of high school, since he got a full ride to a local University, and his Daytona wouldn’t handle that commute.

Not going to lie, I totally dig that color

Dad picked it out and let me pay for 75% of it. Think the yellow Sonoma was in case I was being a teenage boy and people could pretty easily tell who it was

Around here we call that DPW Yellow

Those were hugely popular on the S-10 forum back in the day. The hot mod was to shave the rear steps off and put on a roll pan in place of the rear bumper.
I miss my S-10. Mine was a fleetside though. That’s more my style.

Could be worse. I remember going with a buddy because he wanted to look at a square body S-10 o a local dealer’s used lot. It had been “customized” by one of the companies that did conversion vans. They had added an all fiberglass step side bed. Even the floor of the bed was fiberglass if I recall correctly (it was 1998 or 99) That wasn’t the biggest issue though. Take a look at this picture and I bet you’ll see it.
It didn’t have a tailgate!

bahaha, love it! Are those corvette lights on the “tailgate”???

They were definitely designed to look like them, but they are quite a bit bigger.
As a bonus the inside had a bunch of wood trim, buckets with a wooden console between them and what I called mood lighting along the center of the headliner like you used to see in conversion vans.

I never understood the appeal of the stepside S-10's. I can kinda get it on the full size trucks as the proportions still work. But on a small truck it just makes the bed look ridiculously narrow and overall it just makes the truck far less useful.
However if I could find a clean RCSB ZQ8 like that I would probably be all over it regardless of the bed style. The bed can be replaced easily enough but those trucks are very rare. It’s basically a high trim Sonoma/S10 with nice factory 16" wheels and the Xtreme suspension setup but sans the ugly body kit.

That was my thought exactly. The bed looked like it was about 2 and a half feet wide
